we have a tendency to adore something which is not mainstream, and to shun things which are quoted or talked about too much. as if a precious thing, shared between too many people, loses its value.
and some people i've talked to about this book, seem to have this opinion of it: that it has become too popular, become commercialized, its most endearing quotes lifted and turned into cliche.
and people, being people, tend to like something when they think it's a unique secret only a few special people can appreciate; only to turn on it viciously once it becomes too popular. i've done that with some things, mostly music bands, in my college days when i was desperately trying to believe i wasn't just a faceless member of the crowd.
but i'm thinking about it now, and it seems to me that if many people can appreciate a children's book and its message and story, then hasn't that book accomplished more than a literary masterpiece which is special only to a handful of people?
what is the point if, out of the 6 billion people on earth, only 50 people can appreciate your work?
i agree that each writer has their own particular message to drive home, and sometimes you have to write in a complicated manner, in order for your message to be appreciated to its fullest.
(but there must be a compromise!)
lol passionate spiel interrupted I must go and help cook dinner now.
I agree with what you said. It's not fair when people accuse you of just reading the book since they say it's mainstream. I wanted to, anyway, since I love books.
I want to enjoy things other people seem to like, and there's nothing wrong with checking out stuff like that. I loved the Little Prince the moment I read it.
The simplicity and the innocence, you captured really well. Especially in the Prince's face
I like! Keep up the great work

Your work, as always, is beautiful. Good luck touching other people's hearts, you've completely stolen mine (but I'll admit I'm somewhat of a fickle child who delights in loving many artists and storytellers).
This is among the most beautiful visual renditions of this character I've ever seen. I am always being impressed by your interpretations/retellings of various stories; I have long been enthralled by the way that you have incorporated Invisible Cities into HERO - it is one of my favourite books, and I'm glad to learn I am not the only person in the world who has read and fallen in love with it.
On that note, thank you for taking something that, as you say, has become overused and underestimated, and making it fresh and startlingly beautiful again.
I feel I should say also that I have loved your work for a very long time, and I am glad to finally find the proper words to say so.

God bless you.
